Space Photography Project

An initiative that will inspire and empower women and girls through the sale of prized images and funding from DSLR camera makers

Description

Encourage the two astronauts, Dr. Insa Thiele-Eich and Dr. Suzanna Randall to take photography tutorials and lesson from world renowned German photographers like Barbara Probst and Candida Höfer or have them attend a class at the Düsseldorf School of Photography prior their flight. While at the International Space Station they can take pictures of everything that captures their fancy, random images inside the ISS, photos of Earth from their perspective, the sky, stars and moon from their camera view and others. Astronautin foundation can collaborate with DSLR camera makers like Canon, Nikon, Olympus and Sony for the use of camera while the two astronauts are at the ISS. Visually pleasing photos are auction online where Astronautin foundation can set up a dedicated website (ex. www.astronautinpictures.com) for the auction of those prized images. Proceeds from the said auction would be used to fund science and technology educational programs in Germany or in third world countries which empower and inspire women and girls. As partner of the said initiative Canon, Nikon, Olympus and Sony can pledge a 100% counterpart fund from the sale of those pictures, and those financial gains out of the auction and the counterpart financial assistance from the companies would be used to fund activities which nurtures the skill and tech know-how of women and girls. Activities like teaching women how to install solar panels in a community or how to write programs and how to code is part of this endeavor. While activities that targets young girls from constructing a robot out of Lego bricks, donations of microscopes and astronomy telescopes to girl’s school will definitely harness their science and technology awareness.
