Feminine product improvements
Sponsorship partnership with feminine product manufacturers to create better products.
Description
Unlike male astronauts, female astronauts have to contend with physiological issues like menstruation, menstrual cramps, higher risk of genitourinary infections, etc - with the likelihood increasing when they spend extended periods in microgravity or go on longer space flights in the future (think Mars, etc). My idea is that Astronautin will invite sponsorships, ads and partnerships with feminine hygiene product manufacturers to create and test the next generation of feminine hygiene pads, diapers, etc in the conditions of microgravity. I am NOT implying that the experiments be carried out on the body of the female astronaut. However, the female astronaut is able to carry out experiments and testing with a better emotional sensitivity & motivation towards the project goals. This initiative will have the added benefit of spurring dialog about women's current and future role in space exploration and (female) human centered design. This enables sponsors to connect with female audiences, start empowerment conversations. Potential sponsors include consumer goods powerhouses like P&G, brands like Kotex, Always, Depends, Carefree, etc (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Feminine_hygiene_brands ). Feminine hygiene brands, besides the PR benefits to them, also stand to benefit from the research and innovation, since it might help them improve their own products. Thus, this idea can be a win-win proposition for all stakeholders.
